The FRANKfurtstyleawards 2019 Finale Show was held on the 29th of June 2019 at the Messe Frankfurt Tendence trade fair.
We’re extremely proud of our seven DAF students who made it to the finals – namely, Jenna Standish, Keshia Smith, Natheal Visagie, Duma Soko, Luvo Mahangu, Mbali Mbalu and Thomas Le Roux. Accompanied by DAF lecturer, Thandi Bishop, the students gained incredible exposure on a global platform and had the opportunity to showcase their designs to a dynamic audience. Every year, the fair attracts designers, buyers and suppliers from all over the world who attend to buy from leading European textiles manufacturers.
The top 60 designs were themed under three fashion shows – “Urban”, “Adventure” and “Earth”. Congratulations to 3rd-year student, Jenna Standish, who won the Outstanding Talent Award! A collection which renowned French stylist and judge, Chantal Thomas, described as “Beautiful, wearable, and I would like it for me.”
