MY DOMAIN STUDENT LIVING
“They have sharing units (only on one floor) and bachelor units in the rest of the building, they come with a 3 quarter bed, a flat-screen Tv (requires an HDMI cable and laptop), a kitchen that comes with an induction plate and bar fridge as well as a bathroom with a shower (the tenant then has to buy his/her own extra equipment like Microwave, kettle, cutlery, etc). The building is very secure, 24hr security and cameras, it’s a very nice environment for students, it also has study rooms, a common area for socialising, an indoor(downstairs) and outdoor Gym(on the rooftop), it has a braai area and swimming pool at the rooftop area as well as a soccer astro court, (the building in Salt River also has game rooms in addition to all the mentioned things) We also have laundry rooms with washers and dryers. Telephone booths where you can make free calls, we also have shuttles provided by the building that can take you wherever you want to go at scheduled times. Otherwise, it’s a very nice and safe space for a student, I highly recommend it. All of the above-mentioned things are inclusive in the rent (no additional costs).”

STUDENT REPUBLIC
STUDENT ONE
“I stay at the Student Republic right across campus. It is really nice to stay at. It is a place that is worth the rent. There may be slight inconveniences but overall it is nice to interact with the people and the different personalities.
It is convenient as there are stores nearby and it is within a 5min distance from Campus. There are options for room sharing or single rooms which are furnished with a few essentials.”
STUDENT TWO
“Student republic is a student accommodation which offers maximum security. There is a communal kitchen but students have the option of purchasing a two plate stove/ induction plate. There a single and shared rooms. There are communal sitting areas with a TV and pool table on the 1st and 2nd floors. The 3rd floor has rooms with a balcony and a communal balcony for common use. There is free wifi. There is a parking space. There is a handyman on site. There are laundry facilities. I give this place a positive rating.”

WOODSTOCK QUARTER
“I live with my sister in a 2 bedroom apartment on the 5th floor. We have put in a lot of effort to make it very homely and that is exactly how it feels now. You can get furnished or unfinished and this will obviously then depend on the price. I do know that there is also 1 (studio) apartment available and they are very spacious. The apartment I have with my sister is perfect for 2 people. There is also a roof with a couple of container swimming pools and a small gym where we can get a small workout done. There is also a Spar, Tops and Clicks downstairs from us that we get all our shopping done at, it makes it very convenient. And the best part is, it is extremely close to Campus so the commute is very easy.”

WALMER ESTATE
“I’m currently staying in walmer estate. It is a family neighbourhood & is fairly safe. It takes me 5 min to get to DAF. I’m currently renting my landlords pool villa. This means I live on the same property as my landlord which makes me feel safer as I know that there are other people on the property.
Although Walmer is a family neighbourhood, there are quite a few uni students who live here. There are options of living in digs, a family’s granny flat or an apartment (Oasis group has a block of fairly new apartments in Walmer estate. Can’t remember the name but it’s got undercover parking, secure access, modern furnishings and mountain and ocean views).
There are MyCiti bus stops around the neighbourhood which is definitely a plus. The biggest plus for me is the proximity to DAF & the fabric stores in the area. Everything I need is close by. Another perk of the neighbourhood is that it’s a central location. It takes 7 min to get to town, 10 min to sea point and 10 min to southern suburbs. The location cuts down on my travel costs, and as I mentioned there are MyCiti stops all over the neighbourhood so if someone wanted to save on travel expenses I would highly recommend the neighbourhood. It costs roughly R30 for Uber to DAF.
