Course Description

The Brand Launchpad: Fashion Entrepreneur course is designed to equip you with the practical skills and knowledge needed to successfully launch and manage a fashion brand. This course focuses on hands-on experiences and real-life application, guiding students through the process of establishing their fashion brands from inception to launch. The key areas of exploration include market research, cohesive brand identity, business strategy, sourcing, production and financial management.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

To enroll in the Brand Launchpad: Fashion Entrepreneur course, prospective candidates must meet the minimum age requirement of 17 years. While no prior experience or specific educational background is necessary, having a foundational understanding of fashion, textiles, and garment construction will enhance your learning experience and contribute to your success in this entrepreneurial journey.

Your Facilitators

With 18 years of fashion retail experience, Luke Fobian has a deep understanding of brand management and has worked extensively with and developed various brands. His passion for fashion entrepreneurship shines through his teaching of micro-business management. Luke is dedicated to guiding students through the practical aspects of building and launching a successful fashion brand.

A 2022 graduate, Zamu Nansubuga has quickly made a mark in the fashion industry with her brand, Zezafa. Selling her collection at local markets and the DAF market, Zamu brings hands-on experience in sourcing and working with local suppliers. She’s excited to share her knowledge and assist students in navigating the creation of their own collections.

Application Form

After submitting your application, you will receive a confirmation email. You’ll also be redirected to make your registration payment online. Please keep in mind that your spot in the course is only secured upon payment of the registration fee.

TERMS OF ACCEPTANCE

Any student who registers for the Fashion  Entrepreneur Course is liable for the entire course fee, irrespective of whether the student completes the course or not.

Any student whose financial obligations are not complied with, in terms of clause 1 above, will, at the sole discretion of the Trustees of the Board of Design Academy of Fashion (DAF), be suspended unless such payment is either brought up to date, together with interest accrued on all outstanding amounts at the prime rate from the date when the fees became due, or alternative payment arrangements in respect of both any future or past financial obligations have been agreed to in writing between the person responsible for the payment of fees and the Board.

Should DAF enforce payment of any outstanding fees and need to take legal action to recover these fees, the person responsible for the payment of fees will be liable to pay all legal costs incurred by DAF in this regard (including but not limited to attorney-client fees and collection commission) together with any tracing agent’s fees as may be incurred in the collection of the same.

The person responsible for the payment of fees shall be held liable to DAF for the cost of repairing any damage to its property caused by the student.

DAF shall not be responsible for any physical or mental harm which the student may suffer or for any loss or damage to the student’s property when on DAF’s premises, and during normal hours unless such harm or loss is caused as a result of some form of neglect or failure to maintain the same on behalf of DAF, or if the student was not given adequate instructions or warnings pertaining to any hazard arising from or associated with the use of any of the DAF’s property or equipment.

Provided students have complied with all their financial obligations in terms hereof and have met the attendance criteria required by the Trustees of the Board, they will receive a Certificate of Attendance for the Foundation Course in Fashion upon achieving the outcomes of the course. The Board of Trustees reserves expressly the right to withhold any aforementioned Certificate of Attendance pending compliance or substantial compliance, as the case may be and at the entire discretion of the Board, with such student’s financial and attendance obligations at DAF.

In the event of any student requiring emergency medical treatment, DAF will arrange for said treatment; however, the student/person responsible for the payment of fees will be liable for all costs relating to the treatment.

DAF reserves the right, after 3 written warnings, to terminate the attendance of any student whose behaviour is proving disruptive to the students and staff.

DAF further reserves the right, notwithstanding the content of the Letter of Acceptance attached hereto and the payment of a registration fee, to reject the application of any applicant if, at any time prior to the commencement of the course such applicant is to commence his or her studies at DAF, the Board of Trustees of DAF is of the opinion, in its sole and absolute discretion, that the applicant is incapable of meeting DAF’s acceptance criteria of, inter alia, a financial nature. DAF undertakes to repay any registration fee in the event of such an eventuality.
